Choosing the Correct Conveyor
Choosing the right conveyor for your bakery has become essential to optimizing speed and workflow. Keeping things moving at all times and avoiding downtime can make or break a production line. More than just a way to move products, these machines are critical to reducing manual workload, improving hygiene, and promoting cleanliness.
With all bakers using different ingredients and techniques, choosing the right conveyor for your product can seem overwhelming. With so many factors such as cleanliness, speed, size, angle, noise, and more all affecting your decision it can seem impossible to get everything you need in one package. However, armed with the right knowledge, you can improve the logistics and operations of your line to improve efficiency, safety, and reduce waste.
Choosing Your Belt:
Keeping your conveyor clean and sanitary is critical to the success of a product line. All of your goods will be in direct contact with the conveyor so avoiding contamination is a must. For this reason it is a good idea to use a blue conveyor belt. Blue belts are very common in the food and baking industry as they increase visibility and make identifying impurities or contaminants much easier. However, not all blue belts are made equal, and choosing one that will not absorb moisture and can stand up to standard abrasion and cleaning is a must.
If your line requires glazing or coating then you may want to consider a metal mesh belt to allow any fluids to pass through and be collected elsewhere.
